What do you need for training your dog?

When a new family member appears in your home – a furry, four-legged friend – it’s a wonderful event. But over time, the joy and excitement turn into the question “what’s next?”. The next step is to take matters into your own hands, starting from puppyhood to ensure that your dog grows up obedient, predictable, and controlled. Our specialists are here to help with these questions. Let’s understand what’s required for training sessions with your dog at our training school.

The first and most important thing is your desire, time, and consistency. It’s essential to understand that there’s no kynologist who will take your dog for a week, a month, or a year and return you the “dream dog”. The lion’s share of the work lies with the owner. We will teach you how to become friends and partners with your pet, and how both you and your dog can enjoy learning and training.

Basic equipment set. Here are the details:

  • A high-quality, comfortable soft collar. Pay attention to the quality of the buckle, leash loop, and interior – it should be comfortable for the dog.
  • A regular leash of 1.5–2 meters. It should be solid, comfortable, with a reliable clip. A retractable leash is not suitable for our purposes!
  • Comfortable clothing for training sessions that you won’t mind getting dirty or torn. The dog will sense your tension and concern about fancy clothing, which may be damaged during interaction with the pet.
  • A spacious treat pouch. You can buy a specialized treat pouch or choose any convenient bag that can be worn on the waist or across the shoulder. Or simply use the pockets of clothes you don’t mind getting dirty (see above).
  • Motivating items: treats and toys. This is a separate topic for discussion; if you feel you lack knowledge, seek assistance from your instructor.
  • Extended equipment set. Keep in mind that you will need additional inventory and equipment in the future. Of course, it all depends on the specific dog and the goals set for it. This list may include a choke collar, prong collar, e-collar, harness (for protection work, physical loads), long leash for tracking, and more.

All set. Now, let’s look at the training programs offered by the Kinolog Dog Training Center.

Basic training. Covers topics for beginners: puppy care, upbringing and socialization, how to motivate the dog and capture its attention, how to adapt it to living conditions, how to establish rules for the dog and yourself, and much more – a knowledge base for the novice dog owner.

General training course. You will learn how to attract the dog’s attention, how to show that following commands is not a duty but an engaging game. Obedience is, above all, beneficial for the dog! You will also learn the commands, how to teach, use, and develop them effectively.
